So if any of you capsuleers out there live in Hawaii you know how confusing a timezone it is for EVE events. We pretty much bridge the west coast USA crowd and the Australians. This ridiculous timezone proves problematic for watching the Alliance Tournament live as the tourney starts every weekend morning at 5am... I must love EVE because I've been waking up at 5am every weekend to watch the live feed.
Well anyway on Sunday for the last day of the finals Grafterion, my RL friend and corpmate who also lives in Hawaii, decided to hang out Saturday night at a bar and listen to local band Elephant. We planned on waking up and watching the tournament the next morning on his massive TV.
Jump forward its 2am... and we stumble into his and his roommates house. We drunkenly realize that there is no hope that we will wake up for the show if we fall asleep now. So we made the decision to stay awake so we could watch it. Capsuleers, we succeeded and I'm glad we did, but my god was I in sad shape at work the next day. People just don't understand when you tell them you are hungover and dead tired because you had to stay awake all night to watch other people play video games.
Sleep or no sleep this weekend was a blast and I don't regret it... even if the final match was a complete anti-climax. Good job to all teams! I'll be watching you again next year, making bets, and swaying in my cups.

Best EVE background music
It's always funny to see the disparity between what you think you like and what your actuall play counts are. For instance I had no idea I was such a fan of CCR, but apparently I'm crazy about that song "Bad Moon Rising". There's something wonderful about warping from gate to gate with classic rock. Looking at this play count data I've assembled below my most listened to songs while playing EVE.
Top 10 EVE Songs
1. If I Had Possession Over Judgement Day by Robert Johnson
2. All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix
3. No One Like You by Scorpions
4. Bad Moon Rising by CCR
5. Up Around The Bend by CCR
6. Blue Sky by The Allman Brothers Band
7. Heat of the Moment by Asia
8. Knockin' on Heaven's Door
9. Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zeppelin
10. Juke Box Hero Foreigner
Also check Rettic's Western Suite!

3 Months in EVE University
Today I was awarded the Student title in EVE University. Probably not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but for an up and coming capsuleer it feels like a special day. Getting the Student title doesn't take much here is the requirements listed from the Uni wiki:
Student
Requires
* Freshman Title
* Minimum of six weeks (1 month and 15 days) in E-UNI (Note that the 6 weeks is an approx.)
* Character has positive security status
* Clear evidence of participation on the Forums, Wiki or Killboard
Before EVE University I had only been in one corporation. A group of gamers called Apex Consortium. Great group of gamers that play a bunch of games together. You can learn a little more about them here Apex Guild. Sadly however at the time I started playing they were also very new. I knew I needed to find a group of people who could teach me how to play this fantastic and complicated game.
Enter EVE University. I'm not sure where I heard about this group, but at some point their name got dropped and I decided to check it out. It took a week to get into the corp... a week of bored waiting around to talk to one of their recruiters. Finally my interview came and I was accepted.
Uni was a great place to make mistakes and learn from them. From my first fleets to my first squad command. There are always lots of knowledgeable players online who can answer any questions.
The coolest thing I've seen since being in Uni is all of the guest lecturers. I've listened to Seleene, Noir Hellscream, and The Mittani give guest lectures over teamspeak. Usually with open QA. Here I am a complete newb in a training corp and I get to meet some of EVE well-known names.
I recommend anyone who is just starting to get play or maybe has a friend who is new, point them to the Uni. Its a great stepping stone, there are people to help you, free skillbooks, ship replacements, weekly classes, guest speakers, and people from every time zone. Last time I checked Uni had 1400 members. Give it a go and I think you'll be impressed, its too bad every game doesnt have an E-Uni

Hello New Eden?
Only been playing for since March 2010, loving every minute of it. There are a ton of great blogs out there and they have inspired me to join the discussion and start talking nonsense about the best game out there!
